|  Update:  This hearing aid is now discontinued.

The Ria Pro from Oticon is part of their new range which also includes the Ria. Oticon have taken the technology used in their higher priced hearing aids and used it to create a more affordable, entry level hearing aid, ideal for first time hearing aid users.

Due to the low power consumption of the Ria Pro, as well as the small size of the Inium processor, the range is available in a wide range of fittings and styles. However it is still powerful enough to help those with moderate and severe to profound hearing loss.

For those who prefer the more discrete, in the canal fitting the Ria Pro is available in the following styles.

Completely in canal (CIC), in the canal (ITC), as well as half shell and full shell fittings. The Ria pro is also available as an (IIC) invisible in canal fitting with a small power receiver which extends to the opening of your ear canal. This style is suitable for severe to profound hearing loss. The colours for these custom fittings include beige, light brown, medium brown and dark brown. The IIC model is also available in black.

For those who prefer to wear their hearing aid behind their ear, the Ria Pro is available as Behind the Ear (BTE) mini behind the ear, Receiver in the ear (RITE) and mini receiver in the ear. The main difference between the larger and mini styles is that the mini fittings do not have an option for a telecoil.

These styles are available in seven colours, these are chrome beige, , chestnut brown, terracotta steel grey, silver, silver grey, and diamond black.

The flex mould colours are available in beige, light brown, medium brown, dark brown, black and transparent.

The Ria Pro contains 16 channels to process the sound frequencies for clarity. The hearing aid uses a single compression signal processing system which processes the frequencies that are out of your hearing range and alters them so that you can hear them clearly. The Ria Pro also uses a smart frequency shifting and phase inversion program to reduce background noise whilst creating clarity for the sounds you want to hear. This technology allows the hearing aid to assess the environment and change the settings to give you a better listening experience. If you suddenly enter a noisy room, the hearing aids will reset themselves to enhance the speech of those around you while reducing background noise.

The Inium feedback shield is designed to remove the sound of feedback before you can hear it. It does this without distorting or losing other sounds that you want to hear such as speech or music.

The Ria Pro contains an Essential Free Focus program which gives you full control over the directional microphones. If you are trying to hear someone speak in a noisy environment you can change the focus of the microphones allowing you to listen to the conversation while reducing the effects of the other sound around you.

The digital noise reduction program will also reduce the background noise automatically so that you can concentrate on the conversation.

The Ria Pro has built in 8kHz wireless connectivity and allows you to use the Connect line range of wireless streaming devices, such as the Oticon Streamer Pro. This streaming device allows you to stream the sound from your smart phone or computer to your hearing aids. It will also connect to other wireless enabled devices such as your iPad or iPod or mp3 player. The remote control allows you to change from streaming sound to your normal listening program easily.

Other accessories include a home phone which can stream the sound to both of your hearing aids simultaneously. There is also a television streamer which allows you to listen to the television at a perfect volume for you, without others complaining about the sound being too loud.

Like other hearing aids in Oticon’s range, the Ria Pro contains YouMatic technology which allows a program to be set to your ideal settings according to lifestyle. This will be your own personal profile set by your hearing aid specialist.

The Ria Pro also contains a binaural synchronisation program for those who wear two hearing aids. This allows the hearing aids to communicate with each other and ensures that the program and volume settings are always the same. With balanced surround sound the wearer will find it easier to work out which direction sounds are coming from as well as giving them a more natural listening experience.

The discrete remote control gives you full control over your hearing aid volume and settings so you can choose the best listening options for you.
