The Phonak Venture range
Hearing aids often come with odd numbers and codes after them and it can be tricky to work out what exactly you've been quoted for. The pictures above show the models and we have spelled out what they mean.
The Virto V70-Nano is the tiny and discreet IIC or "invisible in the canal" aid. The Virto V70-10 NW O is the CIC or "completely in the canal" Virto, just slightly bigger than the Nano. The 10 is for size 10 battery, NW stands for "no wireless" which means the hearing aids can't communicate with wireless devices or each other. O is for "omnidirectional" so the aid picks up sounds from every direction. The Virto V70-10 O is as the previous model but it has wireless. Virto V70-10 is the same with the addition of dual microphones which increases the size of the aid. The Virto V70-312 is the bulkier "half shell" with a size 312 battery. The full shell aid which completely fills the ear and has the big size 13 battery is called the Virto V70-13.
The 4 BTE models illustrated are; Audeo V70-10 (size 10 battery), Audeo V70-312 (size 312 battery). Audeo V70-312T (312 battery plus telecoil/loop system). Audeo V70-13 (13 battery, largest aid)
The Phonak Audeo V70 is a Receiver In Canal (RIC) hearing aid and contains the second highest level of technology in the Audeo range. It includes a wide range of programs and features as well as 16 sound processing channels for great sound quality in a variety of difficult environments.
It benefits from Phonak’s Binaural VoiceStream Technology which allows the hearing aids to pick up the best speech signal and stream it to both hearing aids simultaneously. This technology is used in many of the hearing aid programs making it easier to hear in difficult environments.
There is a range of colour options to choose from, including neutral shades and bright fun colours to make a statement. The casing is also dust and water repellent, keeping the hearing aids working at their best.
Speech in Noise
This program directs the directional microphones to the front, allowing you to focus on hearing the person you are facing and reducing the sound behind you
Comfort in Noise
This reduces the volume of loud noise for listening comfort
Designed for one to one conversations in quiet environments.
This program helps you to hear each tone when listening to music
This program recognises the clearest speech sound and automatically focuses the directional microphones on that direction. This is designed for crowded places where there are lots of people talking at once
This program allows you to focus on speech which is coming from different directions, such as behind you or to the side. This allows you to hear what someone is saying when you cannot easily turn your head to see them, such as when you are driving.
The UltraZoom program controls the directional microphones. They are designed to pick up the sound from all around you, giving you a natural 360 degree range of hearing. However this program allows you to narrow the focus of your hearing to a small target area, allowing you to hear one person speaking in a room full of background noise.
Giving you more control over your hearing aids, this allows you to change the volume easily for more comfortable listening.
FlexControl gives you control over your programmes and settings, so that you can make adjustments for better hearing.
When you make changes to the settings or volume on one hearing aid they will automatically synchronise so that the settings are the same on the other hearing aid as well.
Feedback is a common problem with hearing aids. This program recognises and filters out the sound of feedback before you hear it, without distorting other high pitched sounds.
As with the Whistleblock program, this program can help to filter out wind noise when you are outside, allowing you to hear what is going on around you.
Continuous background noise, such as kitchen appliances humming, can make it difficult to hear. This program can reduce the sound of background noise making it easier to hear speech and other sounds in the room.
This program can reduce the impact of sudden loud sounds, such as a car horn or plates smashing. It does this by softening the sound and reducing its volume whilst still allowing you to hear the sounds you need to without distortion.
Real Ear Sound
This program copies the way that the ear would hear naturally, giving you better sound quality as well as helping you to determine the location of sound.
This telephone listening program can stream the caller’s voice to both hearing aids at once, thanks to the Binaural VoiceStream Technology, allowing you to hear phone calls in stereo. This also reduces other sounds in the room, allowing you to focus easily on the conversation.
Many people with hearing loss have difficulty hearing high frequency sounds, such as the voices of women and children. This program can reproduce these sounds within your hearing range.
Tinnitus Balance Noise Generator
Sound distraction is a common treatment for tinnitus. Hearing a sound outside the ear stops the mind from focusing on the ringing inside the ear. This program generates a range of sounds to relieve the tinnitus symptoms.
There are a range of accessories available from Phonak which can enhance your hearing in different situation. The Phonak ComPilot can stream sound wirelessly from your Smartphone, or other Bluetooth enabled media devices. It works with the TV Link, to stream the sound from your television, as well as with a mini microphone, which allows you to hear a speaker in very challenging environments.
The remote control app is easy to download to your Smartphone and allows you to change your settings and volume from your phone.
Superpower version - Naida
The Naida V is the more powerful version of the V70, usually just for those with a severe to profound hearing loss though there is also the smaller RIC version so all hearing losses are covered. Some people choose the Naida due to its increased durability. It is made from a reinforced glass fibre 60% more robust than the usual material and the Naida V is also water and dust resistant with an IP68 rating.
