Oticon Real 1 Hearing Aids Overview

Oticon Real 1 hearing aids build upon the advanced technology found in the Oticon More series, renowned for its "open" sound approach.

Unlike conventional hearing aids that focus on reducing background noise and prioritising speech, Oticon Real takes a different approach, creating a 360-degree soundscape that allows you to experience the full range of sounds around you.

The foundation of this innovative technology lies in Oticon's extensive research and development phase, during which they recorded over 12 million everyday sounds to train their hearing devices.

This resulted in the development of the Deep Neural Network (DNN), an AI-driven system capable of detecting, comprehending, and making intelligent decisions on the sounds that are most relevant to your hearing needs.

Oticon Real 1 represents the top technology level in the Real hearing aid series, offering robust features that excel in complex hearing environments, such as noisy restaurants.

In addition to overall technological enhancements like MoreSound Amplifier and MoreSound Intelligence, now upgraded to version 2.0, Oticon Real 1 addresses specific pain points experienced by hearing aid users.

This includes sudden, disruptive, and uncomfortable sounds, which are categorised as sudden soft sounds, sudden loud sounds, uncorrelated sounds (e.g., wind noise), and handling noise (e.g., hair or fingers touching the hearing aids).

To mitigate these challenges, Oticon introduces the Sudden Sound Stabiliser and Wind and Handling Stabiliser, which are part of the new RealSound technology powered by the Polaris R processing chip.

Key features of the Oticon Real 1 hearing aids

Sudden Sound Stabiliser:  Trained to recognise 500,000 sudden sounds from everyday life, this feature rapidly reduces loud and soft noises, decreasing listening effort by 22% since its introduction in Oticon More.

The Sudden Sound Stabiliser ensures that speech understanding and audibility are preserved, offering precise access to speech in various environments.

Wind and Handling Stabiliser:  By selectively deactivating the microphone that captures the most wind noise, this feature reduces wind noise and handling sounds, contributing to improved speech clarity in noisy settings.

Oticon Real 1's Wind Noise Management system outperforms competitors, leading to a 22% reduction in wind noise compared to one leading device and 17% better speech clarity than another.

New additions to the Real hearing aid launch

The introduction of the Companion app brings new features such as Speech Booster, Troubleshooting, and Remote Care, streamlining the user experience. Furthermore, Oticon is gradually incorporating Voice Notifications through this app, beginning with low battery level announcements, with further updates to follow.

Oticon Real 1 hearing aid models

The Oticon Real hearing aid series does not include In-Ear products in its launch. However, those seeking In-Ear hearing aids can explore the custom Oticon Own hearing aids, which are not rechargeable and vary in terms of Bluetooth connectivity across different styles. The following Oticon Real 1 hearing aid styles are available:

• Oticon Real 1 miniRITE R: Rechargeable battery, telecoil, double push-button, and Bluetooth connectivity. Suitable for mild to profound hearing loss, featuring a Receiver in Canal (RIC) design.

Oticon Real 1's compatibility, connectivity, and charging

Oticon Real 1 hearing aids support hands-free calls from an iPhone or iPad, utilising the devices as a headset if you have an iPhone 11 or later running iOS 15.2 or later, or an iPad running iPadOS 15.2 or later.

Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA) enables direct streaming from iPhone, iPad, and Android devices that support this feature. Oticon Real 1 hearing aids also connect seamlessly with all Oticon hearing aid accessories and the Companion app.

Oticon Real 1 hearing aids offer a rechargeable option, with the SmartCharger providing a full charge in three hours and offering a six-hour boost with just a thirty-minute charge, depending on individual hearing loss, lifestyle, and streaming habits.

The desktop charger provides an overnight charging solution for full-day use. Disposable Oticon Real model batteries typically last slightly less than a week before requiring replacement.

The Oticon Real hearing aid accessories remain unchanged and include options like ConnectClip, EduMic, Remote Control 3.0, TV Adapter 3.0, and Phone Adapter 2.0.

The Oticon Real 1 hearing aid is available in an array of colour options, including Silver, Silver Grey, Steel Grey, Diamond Black, Chestnut Brown, Terracotta, Chroma Beige, Hear Pink, and the new Olive Green (exclusively available in the miniRITE R model).
