If you have little or no hearing in one ear, you may have spent years finding ways to cope. Perhaps you always try to sit on a particular side in restaurants. Perhaps conversations in busy rooms have started to feel more like guesswork. You may even have been told at some point that there is not much that can be done. In many cases, that simply is not true.
CROS and BiCROS hearing systems are specifically designed for people with single-sided hearing loss, and the Starkey Omega AI is the most advanced version of that technology available today. Launched in October 2025 and built on Starkey's newest AI platform, it has been developed to help you follow conversations from any direction, in any environment, with far less effort than you may be used to.
At Your Hearing, we supply the Starkey Omega AI fitted and programmed by a fully qualified, registered audiologist, at prices up to 40% less than the high street. A free hearing test is included, and a free home visit is available if you would prefer to be seen in your own home, rather than in a clinic.
You do not need to know the answer before getting in touch. Your audiologist will carry out a full hearing assessment and advise you clearly. But here is a straightforward explanation of the difference:
CROS is designed for people who have little or no usable hearing in one ear, with normal or near-normal hearing in the other. A small transmitter worn on the non-hearing ear picks up sound from that side and sends it wirelessly to a hearing aid on the better ear, giving you a much fuller picture of everything happening around you.
BiCROS works in exactly the same way, but is designed for people whose better ear also has some degree of hearing loss. The hearing aid on the better ear receives sound from the weaker side just as a CROS system does, but it also amplifies sound for its own needs at the same time, giving you complete support in both ears from a single, coordinated system.
The Starkey Omega AI is powered by the G3 Neuro Processor, which runs a dual deep neural network system called DNN 360. Rather than simply amplifying what is directly in front of you, it analyses the full sound environment around you in real time, working out where speech is coming from and adjusting accordingly.
In practical terms, this means:
This is not just an incremental upgrade. For people who have been living with single-sided hearing loss and experiencing the fatigue that comes with it, the difference in real-world listening comfort can be significant.
The Omega AI is available in two RIC styles. RIC stands for Receiver-in-Canal, one of the most popular and comfortable hearing aid styles available. The main body of the aid sits discreetly behind the ear, with a thin wire carrying sound into the ear canal.

RIC 312 (Traditional Battery)
The Omega AI uses Bluetooth LE Audio, compatible with both iPhone and Android. Through the My Starkey app, you can:
One of the most practical features for ongoing support is the ability for your audiologist to send fine-tuning adjustments directly to your aids through the app. For minor tweaks, this often means no return visit is needed at all.
The Omega AI is also Auracast-ready via the My Starkey app, meaning it can connect to public broadcast audio systems as they become more widely available across the UK.
This system is particularly worth exploring if you:
If you are not sure whether this is the right type of system for your hearing profile, that is completely normal. A free hearing test with one of our fully qualified, registered audiologists is the clearest way to find out, with no pressure and no obligation to proceed.
Please note: If you are pairing a single Omega AI transmitter with an existing hearing aid purchased elsewhere, and you would like Your Hearing to take on the aftercare for both devices, an additional fee of £125 applies to cover the ongoing support for the existing aid.
If you are attending with a family member or carer, they are very welcome to join the appointment. Many people find it helpful to have someone else there, and our audiologists are happy to answer questions from everyone in the room.
