The new Tempus platform from Unitron was launched in March 2017
Unitron Tempus 500
The Unitron Tempus 500 is the entry level model in Unitron’s Tempus range of hearing aids. The range also features models including the Unitron Tempus 600, Unitron Tempus 700, Unitron Tempus 800 and the premium Unitron Tempus Pro.
Full information about the entire Unitron Tempus range can be found on our Unitron Tempus Pro page. This includes a full description of all of the available styles and technological features that are available across the range. However there are of course a number of significant differences between the Tempus Pro, as the premium model, and the Tempus 500, as the entry level model.
One of the main benefits of the Tempus 500 is its price. As an entry level model it contains fewer features and less advanced technology and so this makes it one of the most affordable of Unitron’s recent hearing aids.
Who Is The Unitron Tempus 500 Suitable For?
The Unitron Tempus 500 has been designed for people who need an affordable hearing aid and that only require the simple amplification of sounds in quiet environments. It is actually as good as the premium level Tempus Pro for conversations in quiet environments and also provides a solid performance for other quiet situations.
Unfortunately though the Tempus 500 really is unsuitable for people who spend any time in noisy environments, or even for those who may hold conversations in small groups. If you lead a more active social life and may more often move between different listening environment, then we would recommend looking at one of the more advanced Unitron Tempus models.
However as a basic hearing aid the Tempus 500 does function well and it's rechargeable capabilities may make it a good choice for some people.
Technological Differences Between The Unitron Tempus Pro And The Unitron Tempus 500
To find out more about the specific features of the Unitron Tempus range of hearing aids please see our Unitron Tempus Pro page, however please also note some of the important differences between the Tempus Pro and the Tempus 500 below:
AutoMic - whereas one of the big selling points of the Unitron Tempus range is the development of their Sound Core technology, especially the SoundNav system, the Tempus 500 doesn’t feature this technology at all. Instead it includes AutoMic which automatically switches the microphones to improve performance when levels of background noise increase - a handy feature but very basic when compared to the full SoundNav range of functions.
SpeechPro - this technology, which aids sound directionality detection, is absent in the Tempus 500.
Spatial Awareness - this feature is also absent in the Tempus 500, which means that hearing in challenging environments is even more difficult.
6 Fitting Channels - the Tempus 500 can only recognise 6 different sounds at once, for which it will then automatically adjust the amplification levels to emphasise useful over background noise. However the Tempus 600 has 10 channels, the Tempus 700 has 16 channels and both the Tempus 800 and Tempus Pro have 20 channels, which provide a far superior listening experience.
