Important note regarding hearing aid names

Some companies supply a slightly more basic version of this hearing aid and market it as the "Vista T 710". The hearing aid is still made by Unitron and is almost identical to the Tempus 700. 

You will also see other names associated with Unitron products, such as "Moxi, Now, Fit, All, Dura, Kiss, Stride, Insera. These are all essentially different "shapes" of this hearing aid. For example, the Unitron Tempus Pro Moxi sits over the ear, whereas the Unitron Tempus Pro Insera fits entirely into the ear and is hidden down the ear canal. Unitron Tempus 700

The Unitron Tempus 700 is the mid-level hearing aid available in Unitron’s latest Tempus range. The range also features the premium Unitron Tempus Pro and also the Tempus 800, Tempus 600 and Tempus 500.

Both the Tempus Pro and the Tempus 800 are more technologically advanced than the Tempus 700, although there are of course similarities between the different models. Therefore if you are thinking about buying  Tempus 700 then we would recommend reading our Tempus Pro product description first, as this will give you lots of information about the range, although it is worth bearing mind that there will be some differences between the two models.

As with all hearing aids the more technologically advanced it is the more you pay. So with the Tempus 700 although you don’t get quite the same features and performance than in the Tempus Pro, you do get a significant saving on cost.

Who Is The Unitron Tempus 700 Suitable For?

The Unitron Tempus 700 is probably most suited to people who live a relatively quiet life but are sometimes in noisy environments. Whereas the Tempus Pro provides an excellent listening experience in all environments, but really excels in areas of high noise, the Tempus 700 still performs very well in quieter situations but will struggle in louder environments. Unitron itself only gives the Tempus 700 3 out of 5 stars for its performance in areas of high background noise or when having conversations in a crowd.

The Tempus 700 does still have some useful functionality in noisy environments, for example, it is generally able to emphasise speech from the front when you are having a conversation in a crowd. However, this means that you may still miss anyone that is speaking to you who isn’t stood directly in front of you.

The Tempus Pro also doesn’t feature the MyMusic function, which automatically switches your hearing aids to a dedicated channel when it detects music. Although you will still be able to hear music with the Tempus 700, you are unlikely to get the same high-level listening experience than with the Tempus Pro or Tempus 800 which both feature this function.

Technological Differences Between The Unitron Tempus Pro And The Unitron Tempus 700

As we have already mentioned we recommend that you read our Unitron Tempus Pro product description page for full information about the Tempus range, however, there are some key differences between the Tempus Pro and the Tempus 700 that you should bear in mind.

• Speech Zone - Whereas the Tempus Pro features Unitron’s very latest SpeechPro technology, the Tempus 700 only features Speech Zone, which has since been superseded first by Speech Zone 2 (as featured in the Tempus 800) and then by SpeechPro. The aim of this feature is to allow users to hear a sound coming from different directions when in noisy environments. However, by only featuring this older technology you will find that the effectiveness of this is much more limited.

• MyMusic - as we have already mentioned this dedicated channel for increasing the clarity of the music is not included in the Tempus 700 (only in the Tempus Pro and Tempus 800). This means that the Tempus 700 can only classify sounds into 6 different environments, rather than 7.

• Speech Focus - this feature is only available in the Tempus Pro. Speech Focus is a useful feature which further helps to boost the directionality detection of sound resulting in an even more natural hearing experience.

• Dynamic Spatial Awareness - The Tempus 700 also does not include this feature which, present in the Tempus Pro only, significantly aids hearing in challenging environments by restoring the natural cues for localisation. It does, however, feature standard Spatial Awareness technology which performs a similar function but only for quiet environments. However, this can not be personalised to individual users, unlike in the Tempus Pro or Tempus 800.

• 16 Fitting Channels - Whereas the Tempus Pro and Tempus 800 can recognise up to 20 different sounds at once and then amplify each of these to the appropriate level, the Tempus 700 is only able to process sounds on 16 channels. This means that you will not get such a natural listening environment and may have more issues with amplified background noise.
