Siemens Micon Hearing Aids & Reviews

Written by Paul Harrison

In late 2012, Siemens introduced their new Micon platform which is the core of their BestSound Technology. This has been applied to many of the hearing instruments in the Siemens range so you can have excellent technology with a style that’s right for you. They are available in three levels of technology, 7mi, 5mi and 3mi although some of the styles are not available at all technology levels.

The following 3 styles are available at all technology levels:

Pure –      RIC (Receiver In Canal)

Life -         Mini BTE (Behind The Ear)

Aquaris – Water-Dust resistant BTE (Behind The Ear)

The next 3 styles are available in the 7mi and 5mi technology levels:

Ace -         Discreet RIC (Receiver In Canal)

Motion – BTE (Behind The Ear)

Insio  -      ITE (In The Ear),  ITC (In The Canal) and CIC (Completely In Canal)

These hearing aids come with a range of excellent features to ensure you are getting the best out your hearing aids. These include:

  • e2e Wireless – Allows your hearing aids to synchronise and work together to give a better sound.
  • Tinnitus Noiser – This feature is designed to help relieve the annoying symptoms of tinnitus

  • Up to 48 Channels – With their new 12 mHz bandwidth, these hearing aids now offer an impressive number of sound processing channels. This means your hearing instrument can be even more precisely tuned for your hearing needs.
  • High Resolution Speech Focus  - Continuously analyses the environment you are in and adapts the microphones automatically.
  • TruEar – This feature will recreate the ear’s acoustics to give a more natural sound quality

  • Feedback Stopper – This helps to eliminate the annoying whistling that can sometimes occur
  • Speech And Noise Management – This helps to keep speech clear by suppressing unwanted background noise
  • SoundSmoothing – Will cushion any sudden or unexpected loud noises to maintain your listening comfort
  • eWindscreen – Helps to manage wind noise
  • SoundBrilliance – Extends the high frequency sounds

  • Data Logging – This feature gives your audiologist an accurate record of your hearing aid’s activity.
  • Acclimatisation Manager  - This can eliminate the need for as many follow up appointments as your hearing aids automatically acclimatise you to different amplifications as time goes on.

The new Micon range is wireless compatible so these hearing aids can be connected to the Siemens range of accessories. This means you can have the sound from your mobile phone, TV or music player streamed into your hearing aids and control the basic features such as volume or programme selection . These accessories include:

  • Tek – TV/Mobile phone/Music streamer
  • MiniTek – Streamer and remote control in one
  • e – Pen – Discreet remote control
  • ProPocket – Remote Control

In conclusion, the new Siemens Micon range includes the Pure, Motion, Life, Ace, Aquaris and Insio models of hearing aid. It is the most advanced technology currently available from Siemens and offers a range of excellent features to ensure comfort and clarity in your hearing. It also offers wireless capability and an impressive number of sound processing channels.
