|  Update:  This hearing aid is now discontinued.

The Nera was launched in autumn of 2013 and part of the new advanced range of hearing aids from Oticon.  The Nera is available in two levels of technology with the Nera being the lower of the two. These hearing aids come in several different styles and colours, giving you more freedom to personalise your hearing experience

Styles Include:

RITE (Receiver In The Ear)

BTE  (Behind The Ear)

CIC   (Completely In Canal)

ITC   (In The Canal)

ITE   (In The Ear)

The Nera works on Oticon’s new Inium platform technology. This promises improved sound quality and speech understanding as well as a range of new features which allow you to manage your hearing loss in a number of different environments and situations.

Features Include:

  • 6 Channels – Channels process the different sound frequencies to ensure you hear clearly. The more channels a hearing aid has, the more specifically it can be yuned to deal with your personal hearing loss.
  • YouMatic Advanced – This feature is designed to help you personalise the hearing aids specifically for your needs. It gives the wearer control over things such as noise management, sound compression and microphone directionality.
  • Inium Feedback Shield –This helps to eliminate the whistling sounds that are associated with feedback to ensure your hearing remains clear and free from distortion.
  • FreeFocus – This offers new modes of directionality to improve your speech understanding in more difficult listening situations where background noise could be a problem.

The Nera hearing aids also have several protective seals to prevent things such as dust or water from getting into the hearing aids. The inner components have also been given an extra nano coating to provide even greater protection.

These hearing aids are also compatible with the Connectline range of wireless accessories from Oticon. With these devices, you can connect the hearing aids to things such as your telephone, television or music player

Accessories Include:

  • Connectline Streamer –Transmits the signal from your other devices
  • Connectline microphone – This helps with conversations in noisy situations
  • Connectline Phone – Allows you to connect to your landline phone
  • Connectline TV – This streams the sound from your TV into the hearing aids.

In conclusion, the Nera is the lower level of technology in this new advanced range from Oticon. It works on their new Inium platform technology and offers several features to help keep your hearing as clear and natural as possible. It is available in several different styles and colours giving you a wide choice when it comes to choosing the right hearing aid for you. If you are interested in this type of technology and would like to take full advantage of the technology and features available then you may want to try the Oticon Nera Pro.
