Important note regarding hearing aid names
Some companies supply a slightly more basic version of this hearing aid and market it as the "Vista T 810". The hearing aid is still made by Unitron and is almost identical to the Tempus 800.
You will also see other names associated with Unitron prodcts, such as "Moxi, Now, Fit, All, Dura, Kiss, Stride, Insera. These are all essentially different "shapes" of this hearing aid. For example, the Unitron Tempus Pro Moxi sits over the ear, whereas the Unitron Tempus Pro Insera fits entirely into the ear and is hidden down the ear canal. Feel free to ask us for a more detailed explanation.
Unitron Tempus 800
The Unitron Tempus 800 is the second most technologically advanced model in Unitron’s Tempus range of hearing aids. The flagship model in this range is the Tempus Pro, but there are also less feature rich models including the Tempus 700, Tempus 600 and Tempus 500.
The Unitron Tempus 800 is closely modelled on the Tempus Pro, so if you are interested in this hearing aid then we recommend that you read our page all about the Unitron Tempus Pro first. However there are a few key differences between the Tempus Pro and the Tempus 800 that are worth bearing in mind.
As with all hearing aid ranges the more technological features that are included, the higher the price. So even though the Tempus 800 is slightly less feature packed than the Tempus Pro, it does also cost less.
Who Is The Unitron Tempus 800 Suitable For?
The main areas where the Tempus 800 falls down in comparison to the Tempus Pro is its performance in situations with high levels of background noise. Although it can detect and emphasise speech in noisy environments, it is less able to pinpoint sounds as effectively as the Tempus Pro. Therefore the Tempus 800 is probably more suitable for you if you tend to spend less time in noisy situations.
However the Tempus 800 does pretty much equal the Tempus Pro in quiet environments and still includes the Binaural MyMusic feature which is able to automatically detect music and switch both of your the hearing aids to a dedicated channel specifically designed for listening to music. You are also still able to access the rechargeable version which we think is one of the big selling points of the Unitron Tempus range.
Technological Differences Between The Unitron Tempus Pro And The Unitron Tempus 800
There are a few vital differences between the Tempus Pro and Tempus 800 models that could influence your decision regarding which model to choose. These include:
Speech Zone 2 - whereas the Tempus Pro features Unitron’s brand new Speech Pro technology, the Tempus 800 only uses Speech Zone 2, which is the older technology featured in Unitron’s previous North platform. Speech Zone 2 is designed to allows users to hear speech coming from any direction when they are in noisy environments. Although still a reasonable bit of kit, this has now been superseded by the new Speech Pro technology, as featured in the Tempus Pro, and so you won’t get quite as good a result in some of the more challenging listening environments.
Speech Focus - this feature is also not included in the Tempus 800, it is only available in the Tempus Pro. Speech Focus is an useful feature which further helps to boost the directionality detection of sound resulting in an even more natural hearing experience.
Dynamic Spatial Awareness - The Tempus 800 also does not include this feature which, present in the Tempus Pro, significantly aids hearing in challenging environments by restoring the cues for localisation. It does however feature Personalised Spatial Awareness (also present in the Tempus Pro) which performs a similar function but only for quiet environments, but can be personalised to individual users.
