When Resound brought out their new range of hearing aids in April they only released the premium aids, the Linx2 9, Linx2 7 and Linx2 5. The Enya range adds the entry level options for those who don't have the budget or the need for the more expensive Linx2's.

The Enya 4 is the top of this new range and is an excellent aid, however, it should be noted that none of the Enya's has the "made for iPhone/Android" benefits and the app you can download is the more basic "Control" version, rather than the more sophisticated "Smart" app.

Models available

Pictured right is the tiny completely in the canal (CIC) model, which it should be noted is so small that you lose the wireless capabilities. All of the rest of the models do contain wireless and they range from the custom made in the ear models and the popular RIC's (Receiver in the canal) up to the full-sized power BTE's.

All models come with a choice of a receiver from standard to high power and so are suitable for most hearing losses.

Core features

Surprisingly for a budget hearing aid, Enya has a good selection of the important features of the premium Linx2 range. With Adaptive Directionality and Noisetracker 2, the aid performs well in background noise environments and the superior DFS Ultra 2 anti-feedback system stops the hearing aids from whistling. With this being the top aid in the Enya range you also get the Windguard and comfort phone features. The main reason to go for the Enya 4 over the lower models however is that it is a fully wireless compatible hearing aid with Ear-to-Ear communication so the hearing aids work together as one.

Automatic and manual programs

The Enya 4 utilises the Softswitching feature so that you the aid works automatically for you, changing how it acts depending on your environment. If you did want to have a manual program change option, there are up to four available and with the Enya 4 having Ear-to-Ear communication both hearing aids will always be in the same program as they synchronise with each other

10 Warp Channels 

The Enya 4 is a 10 channel aid, oddly that is one more channel than the Linx2 5 which is a more sophisticated aid. As always though you should look at the full range of features rather than just the number of channels when choosing a hearing aid.

Tinnitus sound generator

As with all of Resound's current range of aids, the tinnitus sound generator which helps to mask your tinnitus is available. This can be used in conjunction with the Resound Relief app if you have a compatible smartphone and Phone Clip+.

Accessories

The Enya range is fully compatible with the latest iteration of the Resound Unite accessories. This includes the Unite TV Streamer 2, the Remote Control 2, the Phone Clip+ and the Mini Microphone. The two smartphone applications, the Control and Relief apps require the Phone Clip+ to function.
