The Hearing Company used to be the name of the hearing aid dispensing arm of the Scrivens Optical Group who have been around for donkey’s years (since the 1950s actually).
They seem to have moved away from the "The Hearing Company" brand ever since the condemning report from a joint investigation by the Royal National Institute for the Deaf (RNID) and Which? Magazine which found them to be the worst performing hearing retailer in the country which then lead them to recommend further investigations by the regulator, the HPC (Health Professions Council) These days they have gone back to being known just as Scrivens.
Their head office is in Birmingham. They have closed many of their Hearing Company branches and these days operate almost entirely though their network of opticians throughout much of England but not Scotland or Wales.
They used to have around 70 hearing aid dispensers at their height but now have significantly less and are one of the smaller national retailers if not the smallest. The brands that they sell are Starkey, Unitron and Siemens.
