Introduction

The Phonak Audeo Life Lumity L50 hearing aids, released in August 2022, represent Phonak's second-generation rechargeable waterproof hearing aid. With AutoSense OS 5.0 technology at its core, these devices promise enhanced speech enhancement and directional microphones, aiming to improve speech clarity in challenging auditory environments.

Performance and Features

 Despite lacking a telecoil, the Phonak Audeo Life Lumity L50 hearing aids feature a push button and are waterproof up to 1.5m, capable of enduring underwater conditions for up to 30 minutes. Offering sweatproof capabilities and health data tracking features, they cater to individuals leading active lifestyles.

 Advanced Technologies for Enhanced Hearing

StereoZoom 2.0 technology dynamically adjusts focus levels in response to varying background noise, delivering approximately 2.5 dB better signal-to-noise ratio. The SpeechSensor algorithm enhances speech understanding by detecting the direction of the primary speech signal, promising a 15% improvement in understanding speech from the rear and sides, accompanied by an 11% reduction in listening effort. Motion Sensors and 360-degree listening further contribute to improved clarity in diverse listening environments.

Connectivity and Accessories

Compatible with both iPhone and Android smartphones, these hearing aids offer universal connectivity and can pair with multiple Bluetooth-enabled devices. Accessory options include PartnerMic, Remote Control, TV Connector, RogerDirect, and the myPhonak App, enhancing usability and functionality.

 Personalisation

The myPhonak app facilitates access to health-tracking features, sound focus personalisation via the Speech Focus Slider, and Remote Care for tailored listening experiences and telehealth services. The Remote Virtual Appointment feature allows on-the-go adjustments with audiologists via Telehealthcare, ensuring convenience and customisation.

Colours and Design

Available in eight colour options, including Sand Beige, Chestnut, and Velvet Black, the Phonak Audeo Life Lumity L50 hearing aids combine functionality with aesthetics, offering personalisation to suit individual preferences and styles.

What you lose

 When compared with the Phonak Audeo Life Lumity L90 hearing aids, the L50 model lacks several features:

- Comfort in Echo, which enhances comfort in noise without speech.

- Speech in Car, adapting and reducing noise from behind automatically, optimising the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in noisy environments.

- Speech in Loud Noise, focusing on speech in front, enhancing speech understanding in noisy settings.

- Speech Sensor, Dynamic Noise Cancellation, SoundRelax, Speech Enhancer, and EchoBlock, improving the listening experience in large open spaces by removing reverberant sounds.

- Speech in 360º and tap control, automatically directing speech to the other ear for improved understanding.

- WindBlock, suppressing wind noise to facilitate outdoor activities without compromising hearing.
