Our 5-yr old boy recently got his first pair of hearing aids and he seems to be a lot more engaged and attentive with them on but he keeps taking them off when we’re not around. We asked him if they were comfortable and he said yes but every other time we leave the room and come back he has taken them off or they have fallen off. We think that most of the time they are just falling off because he tends to play rough. Can you give us some tips on how to keep hearing aids on children?
This is not an area that a hearing aid audiologist is necessarily the best person to ask. I assume you have obtained these hearing aids from the NHS and are under their care? They provide an excellent service for children with hearing impairments and I have no doubt they will be able to offer you the right advice.
