Update - New information

This hearing aid has now been superseded. The aids available in Resound's newest range are the LiNX2 9, the LiNX2 7 and the LiNX2 5. If you are working to a budget and are looking for a more basic hearing aid you may want to look at the Enya 4Enya 3 or Enya 2

The Verso 5 was launched in May 2013 and constitutes the third level of hearing aid technology available from Resound, offering a lower cost option to the Verso 7 and 9. It is available in several different models ranging from very small custom in the ear models to a wide range of behind the ear models. These styles include:

  • BTE  (Behind the Ear)
  • RIE   (Receiver in Ear)
  • RM  (Remote Microphone)
  • CIC  (Completely in Canal)
  • ITC  (In the Canal)
  • ITE  (In the Ear)
  • IIC  (Invisible in Canal)

Like the other models in the range, the Verso 5 has kept many of the excellent features from the Alera range which it has now replaced and offers new ones as well. Resound have now launched Binaural Fusion, which allows your hearing aids to communicate with each other to give you a better listening experience. This binaural technology means that your hearing aids work together to give an even better quality of hearing with more advanced noise suppression and feedback management.

Other features include:

  • 9 Channels – Sound processing channels processes a range of frequencies so the more you have, the more specifically your hearing aid can be programmed to suit your hearing loss.
  • Surround Sound Processor - This processes different frequencies to preserve sound quality. It also has a built in wind noise control system.
  • DFS (Digital Feedback Suppression – This helps to get rid of the annoying whistling noises that can sometimes occur.
  • Advanced Noise Tracker II - This system helps to remove background noise leaving speech clearer.
  • Softswitching – This feature will detect levels of sound or speech and then slowly adapt the microphones to ensure you always maintain listening comfort.
  • Adaptive Directionality - This refers to your hearing aid’s microphone settings. With this feature, your audiologist is able to programme the microphones to respond automatically to different sounds and change the focus of the microphones accordingly.

The Verso 5 also features Resound’s iSolate Nanotech. This is their new process that involves using nanotechnology to apply a highly waterproof coating to your hearing aids. This can help to prolong the life of the hearing aid by protecting it from substances such as earwax or water.

Many of the hearing aids in this range have wireless capability. Unlike many manufacturers, Resound hearing aids do not require any additional accessories to be worn around the neck in order to receive the signal. It is streamed directly from your TV accessory to your hearing aids.

Accessories include:

  • ReSound Unite TV
  • ReSound Unite Mini Microphone
  • ReSound Unite Remote Control
  • ReSound Unite Phone Clip

In conclusion, the Verso 5 is the latest addition to the Verso range and offers a wide choice of hearing aid styles so it can cater for almost all hearing losses. It has wireless technology in most models which don’t require an additional streamer to be worn around the neck. With new binaural fusion technology, these hearing aids provide an advanced listening experience. It is an excellent hearing aid but has significantly fewer channels and lacks some of the features offered by the more advanced models in this range. If you are interested in this type of technology and would like to see more of the features available then you may want to try the Resound Verso 9 or the Resound Verso 7.
